Sylvia Gugler and Sisto Sweep CDI-Adult Amateur Small Tour Division at Gold Coast Opener

Wellington, Fla. – Jan. 20, 2018 – The CDI Adult Amateur division is a fairly new addition to the international ring but has become a hit among riders in Wellington. Sylvia Gugler and Sisto, an 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding, danced their way to their second blue ribbon of the weekend in the CDI Adult Amateur small tour division at the Gold Coast Opener CDI.

No stranger to the AGDF scene in Wellington, this was Gugler’s first time competing in a CDI-AM class. In order to ride in the CDI-AM division, riders must be at least 26-years-old and cannot be on the FEI World Ranking list by the date they enter in the show.

“I love this class!” Gugler explained. “It’s super practice for the CDIs, and it’s nice that there are not so many riders in the class. I think in the open division, there are just so many good, professional riders that it’s hard to place well. You can have a nice ride but are not able to get a nice ribbon. Here, you can have a nice ride and get a nice ribbon.”

Gugler and Sisto competed in both the CDI-AM Prix St. Georges and the CDI-AM Intermediate I where they found victory in both rings. In Friday’s Prix St. Georges, the pair earned a 67.794 percent, which was followed by a 65.931 percent in Saturday’s Intermediate I.

“It felt fantastic to win!” Gugler exclaimed. “I have a very nice horse who loves to show off in the show ring. I actually made a big mistake today [in the Intermediate I], which you don’t want but we finished with a great ride. It was great and Sisto was happy today.”

“I’m going to do a few CDIs in the future,” Gugler said. “I have a new horse that I would like to show in two weeks. We’ll bring him out and see how he does. I’m excited about the future!”

Joining Gugler in the victor’s circle both days was Janne Rumbough and her PRE gelding, Armas Zumbel. Rumbough and the gelding earned a 65 percent in the Prix St. Georges and a 65.049 percent in the Intermediate I for second place on both days.
