Lausanne, Switzerland – Nov. 1, 2016 After their freestyle win with a personal best score of 90.09 percent at the FEI World Cup™ Dressage in Lyon, France, Germany’s Isabell Werth and Weihegold OLD are sitting at the top of the FEI World Individual Dressage Ranking.

Werth and the 11-year-old mare won team gold and individual silver medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She overtook fellow German rider Kristina Bröring-Sprehe and the 15-year-old Hanoverian stallion Desperados FRH. Bröring-Sprehe had held the lead in the world dressage rankings since February. Three riders from the German Olympic team in Rio are in the top three positions: Werth, Bröring-Sprehe, and Dorothee Schneider.

Recent results from the FEI World Cup™ Dressage 2016/2017 series has caused many riders to jump higher on the ranking list. Great Britain’s Carl Hester and Nip Tuck are now in fifth place after their second place finish in Lyon last week.

Spain’s Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez and Lorenzo won the first leg of the FEI World Cup™ series in Odense, Denmark, which has moved him up to the tenth position on the ranking list.
