In the competitive Adult-Amateur Grand Prix, it was Dr. Heather Boo who claimed the championship title and earned an invitation  US Dressage Finals. Piloting her new 15-year-old Westphalian gelding, Divertimento, Boo secured her top placing with a score of 67.85 percent.

“What I’m most proud of today is that the horse I’m riding in the warm-up is getting closer and closer to the horse that I have in the test,” Boo explained. “For me to actually have the same horse going out into the test that I have in the warm up is what I’m striving for. I am working on having exact communication — he’s a very big horse, I think it’s coming together and that is harmony.”

“It’s very rewarding [to win the championship] and I don’t go out there with that expectation,” Boo continued. “I go out there riding every step, just wanting it to be the best step I can make at that moment. I’m really hard on myself when I make a mistake, which is something I have to push past in that moment. I definitely don’t take him or his power for granted, I just appreciate everything he has to give me, which is more and more every time I get on him.”
