Wellington, Fla. – March 1, 2017 – Riders brought together from all over the globe are gearing up for the next CDI competition of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, just past the halfway point of the Wellington season. The jog inspection preceding the Palm Beach Derby CDI-W presented by Everglades Dressage passed all but two horses on Wednesday morning at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC).

The two horses held, Yvonne de Haan’s 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Winter and Barbara Bertschinger’s 16-year-old Oldenburg gelding Rubin Cortes OLD, will be re-inspected on Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m.

The Palm Beach Derby CDI will change up the show routine slightly from previous weeks. The Grand Prix Freestyle typically held on Friday evening will be held on Saturday evening, while the Grand Prix Special will take place on Friday, March 3, at 3:35 p.m.

The Derby Exhibition class, which began in 2015, offers a unique competing and spectating experience. After each rider in the class rides their own horse in the Prix St. Georges test, they draw random rides on each others horses and ride the test again. The riders receive a short, five-minute period to familiarize themselves with their new mounts before they are sent into the ring. The Derby Prix St. Georges class will begin Friday, March 3 at 1:50 p.m. in the Stadium with three riders; Jaimey Irwin, Kelly Layne and Pablo Gomez Molina.

The FEI Grand Prix competition will begin Thursday, March 2 at 12:00 p.m.
